Just a Game

Tick, tick, tick

Advantage, life.

Tick, tick, tick

Deuce.

It is the long, long game

Of wining and losing,

Of going left, right and wrong.

It’s the start, just the start

That looms usually bright.

Tick, tick, tick

Advantage, life.

But the more it goes on,

The less exciting it seems.

Tick, tick, tick

Advantage, death.

That never moves the same way!

Suddenly, life starts shaking and coughing

The gas is running out

It’s a trap, known from the start.

Life, dead on its feet,

Lies down, embracing the earth,

Throwing its racket to the next.

Tick, tick, tick

Game, death.

The game is over!

Death, still in shape, awards itself

In an empty large stadium.
