To Mineworkers

Down the earth they went

To come up with life and the riches

Never wished or dreamt

To be far away from the sun,

And where darkness encircles the horizons.

So brave are the men of the mine.

With lamps on their heads

And death before their eyes,

They invade night and fright

Going deep, deep into the bowels of the earth

Never seeing the like under the sun.

Once up, they are born again.

So brave are the men of the mine.

After years of the grave task,

 Doctors are their best friends,

And hospitals their daily refuges.

The sordid past gets the upper hand

But still boasting to be alive.

So brave are the men of the mine.
